Accessibility Comments

Accessibility Overview: FootLord for iOS (VoiceOver Evaluation)
Overall Accessibility Rating: Highly Accessible / Playable with Minor Glitches
FootLord is an exceptionally accessible football management game for iOS, fully playable using VoiceOver. The developer has shown strong commitment to accessibility, addressing multiple screen reader issues through regular updates.
What Works Well:
* Core Navigation & Menus: Career setup, World Cup modes, league standings, and main menus are fully labeled and easy to navigate with standard swipe gestures.
* Squad & Lineup Changes: Changing players in the starting lineup by tapping on them is fully accessible with VoiceOver. Note that to enable this feature, you need to go to Settings > Preferences > Substitution Style and select the option to Click on player.
* Transfers, Contracts & Negotiations: Making purchase offers, contract renewals, selling players, and negotiating wages through proposals and counter-proposals are completely accessible. Adjusting transfer fees and salary values up or down works smoothly with VoiceOver.
* Match Engine & Live Commentary: During live matches, time/minute announcements read correctly, keeping screen reader users fully informed of game progress in real time.
* Transfer Market Management: Setting player statuses (e.g., listing players for loan or transfer) is fully functional and properly announced by VoiceOver.
* Difficulty Settings: Changing difficulty levels works seamlessly; VoiceOver dynamically updates and reads the selected level when navigating back and forth.
* Vertical Layout: The game operates in portrait mode, making one-handed navigation with VoiceOver very comfortable.
Current Minor Bug / Workaround:
* Tactical Style Label Synchronization: On the tactics screen (changing team playstyles such as "Park the Bus", "Long Ball", etc.), tapping the "Next" button correctly changes the setting, and VoiceOver reads the newly selected style upon pressing. However, if you swipe back (right-to-left) to focus on the button again, VoiceOver reads the previously selected style instead of updating the element's label in real time.
* Workaround: Save/confirm your tactical changes and re-enter the tactics screen to verify that your selected style was applied correctly.
Final Verdict:
FootLord is one of the most accessible sports management games available on iOS today. Aside from a minor label-refresh bug in the tactics menu, the game offers a smooth, rich, and highly enjoyable experience for blind and low-vision players.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Other Comments

FootLord was already a well-known and appreciated football management game on Android, and it is great news to see that it is now available for iOS as well.
The biggest highlight of this release is the developer's attitude. They are extremely open to dialogue and have shown an exemplary commitment to the blind and low-vision community. Since the initial testing stages, they have been ready to listen to feedback and acted quickly to fix several accessibility issues that were pointed out—such as the match-time announcements, adjustments in the career and World Cup menus, and the transfer market options.
Although there is still a minor bug regarding the label synchronization in the tactics menu (which has a simple workaround), the game is currently in an excellent state of playability with VoiceOver. It is truly gratifying to see an independent creator so attentive and dedicated to making their project fully inclusive. It is definitely worth checking out and supporting!

One should act as either the manager or the chairman, but not both at once. We should be prompted to pick a mode when starting a new game, and then the game should be set up accordingly; the chairman shouldn't be able to interfere with the manager's decisions, and if he does, the manager should protest and even resign if the dispute cannot be resolved. Similarly, the chairman should have his own opinion on transfers and so on, but it should ultimately be the chairman and board that makes financial decisions. And then there are supporters, players, and a bunch of other factors involved, each with their own characteristics, personalities, and expectations. You'll probably say this is a game after all and I should take it easy, but this is exactly what I'm saying already: We should be able to take it easy rather than having to deal with each and every aspect.

Hi Enes,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
What you are describing sounds much more like a complex, hardcore simulation game like Football Manager, where you have complex board dynamics and separate role responsibilities.
FootLord, on the other hand, is designed to be a lighter, more streamlined, and casual manager game. Its goal is to let you jump straight into controlling all aspects of the club without too many bureaucratic layers.
Having the option to choose between modes in the future could be an interesting idea, but for a casual indie title, its current setup keeps things simple and quick to play!

This is exactly the type of game I wanted to play.
However the issues reported below about information not being read when changing match tactics, also applies when making negotiations with players, staff and the like. I had to kind of tap blindly to get through that screen.
Also, I'm planning on supporting in future, but at the start when the ads are required to get sponsors, I can't close them and continue so that feature seems a no go.

I get where you're coming from, and I do know what the developer aims for, but I also doo have the right to point out that it's not as realistic as most players would think. And by the way, the main screen is quite laggy, and the VIP Area and Settings options are announced as images instead of buttons, which might lead to confusion as to whether they can be activated with a double-tap or whether they're just images.

Regarding the ads, I can't say for sure because I supported the game in its very first version and don't have ads in my game.
To renew contracts or make offers to players, just double-tap and hold on the second tap on either the decrease or increase button to adjust the salary, contract duration, or offer amounts, then double-check the values and tap "Send Offer."
As for managers and staff, you can use the edit field or hold the buttons. To make the "Send Offer" button available on that screen, you need to swipe back to page one and then return to page two before tapping it, although I recognize this part is indeed quite confusing.

Hi all,

Quick note that I have updated the usability rating of the app based primarily on the community comments here. The rating is now that the app has minor accessibility issues - this was my best guess based on reading the community feedback. Please feel free to let me know if you feel the app needs a further downgrade in rating.

So I’ve played some more and I’m having more luck, however transfers are confusing me. I’ve made an offer, adjusted it and the other team agreed, however once I press exit, nothing happens at all, I don’t get any prompt to negotiate with the player or anything. Also, when a team makes a counter offer, is there a way to say yes or no? I just get the same screen with the ability to increase or decrease the money amount. It’s as though the screen hasn’t fully updated. Love it otherwise, would love to get these kinks sorted out.

If the team accepts your offer, tap "Exit." After that, you will go back to the player's screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on an option that should say something like "Contact to Sign" (or "Contact to Hire"), then tap "Start," and make the offer to the player using the same method I described earlier.

Just a reply to previous post, when you exit after you’ve made your offer, contact for negotiations appears at the bottom. Click on that and it’ll come up

I get addicted to any football game I play. Ask anyone who knows me😂 anyway, I’m now the manager of Liverpool, makes sense being a massive Liverpool fan. If anyone needs anything from me, you’ll find me at training. Or you could check the office 😂😂

Finally got it working, not sure how I missed that but got my first transfer in the door.
