Hi folks,
Monzo Bank launched here in Ireland this week. I know it's been around for a long time in the UK.
Does anyone use it, and how good is it from a VoiceOver accessibility perspective?
Bonus points for anyone who has also used Revolut and can compare the two.
Cheers,
Dave

works fine with voiceover, sometimes a little sluggish on the home screen for some reason? but when you have pots to put money aside they clearly read; the notifications are easy to understand and you just add your card to Apple Pay when you open the account, and they send you a physical card too. however, one thing to note is this; when you have a pot set up, say, for bills, standing orders can go directly out of the pot but, a direct debit, has to have money, re-added to the main balance to go out, so i'd just let your direct debits go out of your current account and say, standing orders to someone you set up say, from a pot so that money put aside, please contact me with any other queries.

Hi Dave, I’ve actually used both. I tried Monzo back in 2024 when I was in the UK, and from what I remember it worked really well with VoiceOver. I don’t recall any unlabeled buttons or accessibility issues.

I use Revolut pretty much every day now. It has a lot of features I rely on, especially for online shopping and switching between euros and other currencies.

One thing I really like about Revolut is how it handles subscriptions. If you’ve got a monthly payment, it will notify you the day before the money is taken, which I find really useful. It also tells you when a refund has been started and lets you collect points when you spend.

Another thing I really like is how easy it is to send money or split a bill. If the other person has Revolut, it’s basically instant and very straightforward. I imagine Monzo has something similar, but Revolut is more widely used, so it’s just easier to send money to people in general.

Interface wise, Monzo felt a bit cleaner and easier to navigate. Revolut can feel a bit more cluttered at first, but once you get used to it, it’s fine.

One thing to note is that I’m a paid Revolut user, so I’m not sure if all the features I’m using are available on the free plan or how they compare to Monzo now. When I tried Monzo, it didn’t seem to have some of these extras, though that may have changed since then. Both apps were accessible during setup, so no issues there.

One downside with Revolut, at least for me, is support. As far as I know, there’s no phone support, so if you can’t access the app or website, it’s quite difficult to get help. Because of that, I don’t use Revolut as my main bank account.

So overall, if you’re mainly in the UK or Ireland, Monzo is a solid option with a simpler interface. But if you want something more global with extra features, I’d probably go with Revolut.
