worsening of YouTube accessibility

Hello everyone! In YouTube version 21.13.6, accessibility for the blind has worsened. You can no longer manually select the video playback quality. When you open that menu, VoiceOver doesn’t find or announce anything there except the current video quality. I hope the developers fix this in the next version. Take care, everyone!

I also can no longer read the description of a video with voiceover. I don't know how long this bug may have been present since I don't often read the video descriptions, so maybe you guys were already aware.

Can't seem to read description of youtube videos either. a workaround is using screen recognition.

It's now only a button, not a heading. Both on the player expanded and collapsed at the bottom.

You can no longer read video descriptions even with screen recognition since there's no way to expand them and it wouldn't read longer ones. There's also a random issue where you can't use any of the side buttons in Shorts (like the like/dislike buttons). Trying to read posts is a crap shoot; sometimes you can and sometimes you can't (you'll never see everything posted by the people you follow in that tab no matter what you do). It is definitely getting worse though. Within the past month I have seen more problems than I saw in the past several years and unlike those, none of these are being addressed, there are just more of them.

Hello everyone! I wrote a review in the app store about this problem and also about the fact that it is impossible to read the video description. I suggest you all do the same. I'm glad they'll pay attention to it and fix it as soon as possible! Good luck to everyone

I have seen several VoiceOVer bugs appear lately while using the app, especially with reading the video descriptions, and other unlabeled controls as others have described. I also noticed that, as a creator, changing a video's status between public, unlisted, and private doesn't always read now either. I often upload videos ahead of time, and unlock them publicly on specific days, and have noticed this problem the past several days.

Hi everyone,
I’ve encountered an accessibility bug regarding the sleep timer functionality for videos.
The Issue:
It is currently impossible to set a sleep timer for a video because the relevant controls are not accessible via VoiceOver. When navigating to the sleep timer section while a video is playing, VoiceOver fails to announce any elements or provide any feedback. It’s as if the focus is completely lost or the elements are hidden from the screen reader.

Subject pretty much says it all.

There was a time when Youtube supported rotor actions on iOS instead of making secondary actions appear directly in the focus order. They decided not to do that anymore at some point, and since then accessibility in the Youtube app has been les than stellar.

So you know youtube forces AI dubbed video? Now, if you go into player settings and auduo track / language, whatever the label is, it will only show the option to go in the settings and adjust language preferences. You have to use screen recognition to actually click on the, language (original) button. Doable, but it took me 5 minutes to figure it out.
