As expected, Apple has today released revised builds of iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7, bringing a fix for the critical, actively exploited security vulnerability known as "DarkSword." Originally released alongside iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 for devices unable to run iOS 26 or iPadOS 26, today's revision expands availability to users who have consciously chosen not to install the version 26 upgrade.
As iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7 were not distributed to external testers prior to their release, we do not have any information on whether they contain any accessibility fixes for blind, deaf blind, or low vision users at the time of writing. However, as these updates appear to have been released to address a specific issue in a prior major version of the operating systems, we do not expect them to contain any such fixes.

7 or 8?
Just a question here. The subject line says iOS 18.7.7. However the release notes say iOS 18.7.8.
Am I missing something here?
18.7.7
The correct version is 18.7.7, which the post has now been updated to reflect. Thanks for pointing this out.
I wonder how much longer Apple will provide security updates for
Iβm surprised Apple is still providing security updates to iOS 18. I figured this point of the year. Theyβd already have people updating iOS 26. I mean I think itβs great that they still do that. I was just surprised. Both of my devices are updated to iOS 26.4. I think itβs good that they continue to offer the security updates though. I just thought that since weβre already in April, but they would have already stopped by now, but I guess it was wrong. I love that we always have these blog posts. I just know whatβs going on with software releases.
older devices
Apple is still updating iOS 16 and 15 as well. These are for older devices that are stuck on these specific versions.
