Welcome to the September 2026 installment of AnonyMouse's App Pick of the Month, where where each month I highlight a new or noteworthy app. This month's pick is Restaurant Rush: Cook & Serve.

September 2026 has been one of those months where choosing just one App Pick of the Month has been especially difficult. It has felt like one of the busiest months I can remember on AppleVis, particularly when it comes to games. There have been so many new apps and games to check out, and several could easily have earned this month's spot. But after considering all the options, I kept coming back to Restaurant Rush.

About Restaurant Rush

Restaurant Rush is a restaurant simulation game that combines time management, strategy, and progression. You take customer orders, prepare food, serve customers (before their patience runs out), and earn coins that can be used to improve your establishments. As you progress, you can upgrade kitchen stations, add trays, hire waitstaff, unlock additional restaurants, and work your way through more than 50 recipes.

Restaurant Rush includes a 100-day campaign as well as an Endless mode, so there is plenty to keep you busy. There are also daily missions and weekly challenges with global leaderboards. One thing I especially like is that there is always something else I want to accomplish. I might start out intending to play for just a few minutes, and before I know it, I've played several more rounds. Restaurant Rush is seriously addictive.

For me, a big part of the appeal of Restaurant Rush is simply getting to play this type of game with VoiceOver. Cooking and restaurant management games are not a new genre, of course, but accessibility of these games has historically not been all that great. There is something really satisfying about finally getting to experience this style of game for myself, and accessibility is a priority for the app's developer.

VoiceOver users get the same challenging experience as those with sight, with some thoughtful additions specific to making gameplay accessible. When VoiceOver is detected, the game can suggest accessibility settings, including a more relaxed pace that gives you additional time to react. But relaxed doesn't necessarily mean easy. Customers can still lose patience, orders still need to be prepared and delivered, and things can definitely get hectic. And that's actually part of what makes the game so much fun for me. I'm not looking for a game that plays itself just because it's accessible. I want something I can learn, get better at, and occasionally feel a little pressure while playing. Restaurant Rush gives me that feeling of wanting to try again, improve my score, earn more coins, make another upgrade, and see what happens next.

Something else has made this month's App Pick especially enjoyable for me, and it goes beyond Restaurant Rush itself. Restaurant Rush has taken AppleVis by storm, and a big part of that is because of how the developer has gotten involved with the community. The developer of Restaurant Rush has been especially active in the discussion in the App Directory entry; players have reported accessibility issues, asked questions, and suggested improvements, and the developer has been responding directly to that feedback with enthusiastic engagement. This is truly wonderful to see, and I love it when a developer treats accessibility as an ongoing commitment, not a finished product.

Why I’m Picking Restaurant Rush: Cook & Serve This Month

This was not an easy month to choose just one app. September brought an impressive number of new additions to the AppleVis App Directory, especially games, and there were several that I seriously considered for this month's pick.

Restaurant Rush ultimately won me over because it combines several things I enjoy: accessibility, strategy, progression, challenge, and, most importantly, fun. It's the kind of game where I tell myself I'm going to play one more round, only to discover that "one more round" somehow turned into several.

I also like that Restaurant Rush is a style of game that hasn't always been readily accessible to VoiceOver users. There's something special about finally getting to enjoy a type of game that sighted players have been enjoying for years and being able to experience that same frantic fun for myself.

If you enjoy casual games, cooking games, time-management games, or games where you gradually build and improve something, Restaurant Rush is certainly worth a look.

A Thomas missed your podcast on the new features of iOS 27. I had heard you doing it for so long in previous iOS. Are you planning to do it?

Wow, I only just found out about this, and it genuinely made my day! 😊

Thank you so much, AnonyMouse, for choosing Restaurant Rush as your App Pick of the Month. It means a great deal to me, especially considering how many great games were released and discussed this month.

I also want to thank the entire AppleVis community. Your feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and encouragement have already helped me improve the game so much. Making games that everyone can enjoy is incredibly important to me, and your support motivates me to keep learning and doing better.

I’m truly grateful β€” thank you all! ❀️

Mine to!! This game is incredible! Not only its accessibility with Voiceover, but its sounds!: they really immerse you into the restaurant ambience! I'm even thinking of maybe recording an episode of it for my Youtube channel (in Spanish!, "ForallAccessibleTV" because what a game! I could recommend it to my sighted nephew, for instance, and as he's paying it without voiceover, I can play it too, but in an accessible way! Keep up the great work!, and thanks for choosing it as the app of the month! I probably wouldn't have known about it, thus taken the time to give it a try myself:, and I'm so happy I did! It's definitely addicting!, but in a good way.
