We are pleased to announce that user bios are now part of AppleVis profiles, allowing people to share a little about themselves with other AppleVis community members.

Since the early days of AppleVis, user profiles have contained a number of optional, public-facing fields that people may fill in as they choose--home page, Apple products owned, social media profiles, interests, etc. With the update announced today, community members can share a short personal biography that will be included as part of their public profile.

  • Filter by Accessibility Rating: We should be able to filter the apps added to the app directory based on how accessible they are according to the ratings.
  • Filter by Price: We should be able to view or filter out free apps, free apps with in-app purchases or paid apps.
  • Filter by Keyword: We should be able to enter keywords and view the results that do (not) contain them, whether in the app name, App Store description, comments or elsewhere.
Note that most of these used to be accessible without even having to do any filtering and opening the app's dedicated pa

Hello team, I hope you are well.

I would like to request, if possible, the password key feature to log in to the site. Especially when we are going to use other operating systems, including on computers or phones that are not ours and that do not have our credentials saved, this would make it much easier.

I would appreciate it if it is possible to help.

As a follow-up to my previously already locked post on the subject of censorship, given that I never criticize without also offering an alternative that I consider significantly better, and being fully aware that this constitutes unsolicited advice because the site decided to act defensively instead of asking me for suggestions, I still decided to make a positive contribution by presenting moderation suggestions based on my own experience dealing with the worst of the Internet as a founder and moderator of a medium-sized programming channel on IRC eons ago.

Hello everyone.

I am writing to enquire why notifications of comments been posted or otherwise have disappeared? I am unsure when this started happening. As of this writing the only way I know my comment has been posted is by locating the heading of said comment. Before, at the top of the page it would indicate that my comment has been posted through a status message.

Thank you in advance for shedding some light on this. I await your reply.

Hi AppleVis Team,

I really like AppleVis so much, that there should be a section where people can comment or ask Orientation And Mobility questions. This can be very useful if people are looking for cane recommendations. Or even navigation apps that can help people navigate their community. I'm visually impaired myself, so having this option would be super beneficial for me.

What do you all think of this? Is that something you would like to see in the near future? I'd like to hear your ideas on this!

Thanks and hope you have a great rest of your day.

Hi AppleVis,

After every comment, there used to be a More Like This which would display similar posts that the ones that you're looking that. What was the reason for removing that feature?

Thank you all for all the hard work you do.

Dear AppleVis Community,

With the release of the software version 27 betas likely coming later today, we are asking that everyone please help us keep beta discussions on the site organized as much as possible.

Right now, discussion of betas--especially betas of major releases like software version 27--is fragmented. We often have several different threads going about the same beta and platform at any given time, for example iOS.

Dear AppleVis Community,

We are asking that everyone please take a moment to ensure that your AppleVis account information on file with us is current.

From time to time, our team may need to contact you regarding your usage of our services--for example, if we update our terms of Service or need to work with you regarding your user-submitted content. Additionally, we offer the ability for users to subscribe to emails about specific posts (like forum topics or App Directory entries), with significant enhancements to this functionality in the works.

Hi AppleVis Community,

When browsing on the AppleVis Website, is there a way to switch to regular clock hours like 8:46 on the AppleVis website? So that VoiceOver does not read: "On Wednesday, October 22, 19:48. I prefer to see it like this: 7:48.
Is there a way to change this?

Thank you.

Hello,
So I think a checkbox like this existed a while back, but it got removed. I do not remember why, or perhaps its removal was never publicly documented. However, for developers like me, it helps distinguish between normal posts and developer posts.
I think the issue with the original checkbox is anyone could check it and instantly, they were a developer. Perhaps there could be a verifcation system in place (e.g. Itch.io, GitHub, App Store, developer website, or having at least one of your apps posted on AppleVis).

I tried to post a followup to a previous reply of my own on a thread asking whether it was possible to rename an audio device, and when I attempted to preview my reply, I got the following message from Cloudflare:

Sorry, you have been blocked

You are unable to access applevis.com

Why have I been blocked?

On the homepage, under the recent post list, I'd like AppleVis to inplement a way to preview posts as the post title doesn't always say enough. Without having to open the post, I'd like to see 2 or 3 lines of the post body, so one could always get a general idea of how it starts. Thank you!

Hi. It looks like the option to reply to comments within a forum discussion has disappeared again. Or at least, I can't seem to find it. What's going on with that? Did it break again?

Hi,
I hope that this is the right section of the forum to post. The subject pretty much says it. I am wondering if there is a way to reply directly to post that people post on a website. For example, if I’m following a topic, and I want to reply directly to a comment, the only thing I know to do is type in RE: and then the name of the subject to which I’m replying. Is there an easier way? Also, if needed, how do I mention users directly. I’ve seen this happen before in the website, where it will link to users and posts. Hope this makes sense. Please let me know. Thanks

Hello. I am a long time user of applevis, and I love It because of all of the cool podcasts and features on the site. It's like a community of blind apple, mac and Iphone freaks. I love it. Do you by anny chance have a podcast on how to use the website it's self. Just currious. I sometimes have trouble going to my account and mannaging it. Other than that though, This is a grate place to learn. Thanks for creating a website like this.
