Why don’t we have a proper blind football game yet?
Honestly, I couldn’t find a better place than AppleVis to vent my frustration and wonder why no developer has thought about creating a fully-featured football (soccer) game for the blind.
About 20 years ago, a developer (I can’t recall the name, unfortunately) made an awesome game called Super Football. In my opinion, it was the blueprint for what could be an endless world of ideas in this field.
In that game, a blind person could play just like any sighted person: you could pass the ball, cross it, take a power shot at the goal, defend by pressing other players, and even control the goalkeeper. Everything!
I’ll be honest—I was addicted to that game. Of course, it was missing a lot of things and was much simpler than what’s possible today. It lacked details like player stats (stamina, health, skill level), picking specific teams, or buying pro players with better attributes.
But the core idea here isn't just about managing or training; it’s about the actual gameplay. It's about the skill of controlling the player and the thrill of scoring goals.
I really hope developers see this and decide to build something like it. Unfortunately, I don’t have the coding experience to do it myself, but if I did, I’d start working on it right this second.
What do you guys think? Would a game like this actually be as exciting as I imagine?

Hell no
I'd love to be able to play a game like this but I'm more interested in the strategic aspects of football.
Managing a club as the manager or even as the owner.
Yes, we have a few choices here but I'd love to see more options here as well :-)
there are many
FOotball manager and soccer manager and many more.
BUt there is no app like what I mentioned here
That would be cool
How you would do that on iPhone I have no idea, but I've always wanted a Fifa style game for iPhone. I also think that EA, with there billions of dollars, should put some money into making it accessible, but hey, that's another conversation.
The only game that I think comes close to it is Blind Fold soccer kick, but you likely have played it already and the game mechanics leave a lot to be desired.
rugby and cricket
It's all about football ain't it? I want rugger and cricket too. Tennis, golf, all would be good.
why not?
why not any sports game? just need to play actual game and Combeat with others not just to put stratigy and so on.
@Bingo
There used to be an accessible golf game for android. This would have been more than a decade ago, as I got my first iPhone in mid 2012. I do not know if that game still exist or not, but it was actually pretty good for its time.
bingo
Is it just to shoot a ball or what?
i do not have an android phone to search.
sorry

If I am remembering correctly, and keep in mind this was a long time ago, but it was more or less a fully fledged golf game. And you had to watch out for things like wind speed, and weather, sand pits, etc. Things I imagine people typically have to be wary of in actual golf. As for swinging your club and striking the ball, there was a type of meter, I think it was done with sound, or maybe sound and haptics? Anyways, the more evenly matched it was when you tapped the button, the better/more accurate your shot was.
I hope that makes sense. If that game is still around, that would be amazing, because I imagine after all these years they would've had a lot of updates, assuming the death kept it up of course.
Football
Yeah I would love to have a good football game to play. I have fond memories of playing FIFA when I was younger and had enough sight.
Perhaps I lack imagination but I’m not sure how it would work. Do you have any thoughts or examples on game mechanics?
On the strategy side, are there any good football management games that are accessible? I’d love to play the proper top tier ones like Football Manager. I tried the likes of Soccer Boss, but thought it was rubbish honestly.

Possible gay mechanics for a audio soccer game.
So, have you ever played the game FEER? That could be the foundation for an audio soccer game. Imagine it. You're running across the field, working the ball toward the goal, you hear a player coming up on you, you swipe left or right to get around them, keeping the ball between the Arch of your feet as you work it down the field (maybe some haptics could be worked in here?). Perhaps they can incorporate a gesture, such as a two finger swipe up, to hop the ball over someone's leg if they try to sweep it away from you, or a two finger swipe down to try to do a more spectacular kick/maneuver toward the goal? Such as the move (I forget what it's called) where you place 1 foot with your heel against the front of the ball, and the toes of your other foot under the back of the ball, you kind of lock the ball in place and sort of hop up, Bending your knees, popping the ball up into the air behind you. If done right, the foot behind the ball pops the ball upward slightly, and the heel of your front foot hits it, knocking it up over your head, where you can either headbutt, or perform some kind of jumping kick like a scissor kick for example). Yes, I may have played soccer when I was a kid...
What do you think on incorporating FEER's game mechanics? Obviously it will need a lot more game mechanics, but for a foundation, I think something like this could work. 🙂
Edited for typos
Rainbow Flick
Is that the move you are referring to?
Possibly
I honestly could not remember the name of the maneuver, but rainbow flick sounds about right. The ball does kind of do this Arch move or it pops up behind you over your head and potentially can land in front of you, if done right.
