Twitter/X question

Ok guys for those that still use X or even those that used to but no longer do. I'm guessing this has not changed. Any of you managed to get out of a video? I have no problem selecting and playing the video but getting out of it and back to the previous screen without shutting the app down is near on impossible. Even with SR turned on it is a nightmare. Curious to know if anyone manages or did manage this ta.

Well, I'm now using an old version where the close button is still visible.
To be honest, except of closing and opening Twitter/X, there's no way, to solve it.
There're still developers which are reacting sometimes to our feedback, but I forgot their X-handles already unfortunately.
Missing also the good old times, where the Accessibility team was hanging around.

Does anyone know if there is a Wigit for Twitter where you can see the latest posts from someone you follow? I remember trying this and it did not seem to work all that well. Thanks,

@Xa11y is the place and manner to communicate with X about accessibility issues. I sent a chat on the X app about this video issue. As a partial fix, you could dock videos. The back button is accessible in using this method.

Closing videos has become a bit of a pain in the proverbial, but, as mentioned above, one way to close the videos is to use the Dock Video Button. This will open Picture in Picture mode. Once opened, I find the PIP Screen, where I can find video controls - including a Close button.

What and how do you use the dock video? Never heard of it. Sorry if being thick.

Hello, Lee. I assume that this positions the video on the screen. If you double tap the β€œdock” buttton, there will be a play utton as well as a back button. The advantage is that you can close a video and stay in X. The disadvantage is that you can’t move from video to video with a three-finger swipe. I’m happy to help.

Ok How do you get into the correct screen? I have PIP automatically turn on in settings which I'm guessing is correct. However, when I open a video in the video dock button I don't see the controls you mention. Seems to take me out of the video to the original post and the only way to close the video then is the old way or close X totally. Confused!

Could have started a new thread but, has anyone at all in any app managed to get picture in picture to work? I know above the implication is yes but after researching what you should be able to do with VO and what I cannot do is find the PIP window from the home screen. Apparently if enabled once you start a video you go to the home screen then slide your finger around all 4 corners. At some point VO is meant to tell you that you are on the PIP window. However, this does not work for me at all in X, Youtube, Facebook. So guessing it won't work anywhere. I'm on iOS26.5 public beta 1 but don't think this is relevant and iPhone 15 pro.

I still use Twitter/X because there are loads of people and companies I follow there, and I have gotten lots of professional opportunities over the years. Twitter has definitely become more frustrating though.

For videos, I have mostly just resorted to turning VO off, and then swiping down with one finger from the upper mittle area of the screen which moves back to the timeline view, and then turn VO back on again.

I also really don't like their new way of viewing websites with their little overlay thing at the bottom. I much preferred the old way of how website links opened. This is especially true since X doesn't honor my Safari ad blockers, and every page has to have a stupid cookie pop-up on top of that now...

I definitely miss them having an accessibility team, and hope they fix some of this stuff. Oh, and my other annoyance that's been there forever is, I love when I'm reading my timeline, and the screen just refreshes and jumps 50 plus posts back up for no reason. It's awesome...

One other method to close out videos is to use voice control. I have Siri turn on voice control and use the command swipe right. That should close out the video and take you back to the previous page you were on. When done I just tell Siri to turn off voice control.

Hi Lee,
I have learned some cool tips on this thread, thanks for starting.
With regards to PIP, here is what happens for me on "X":.
I start a video playing from within a Post.
The Video will play, player control buttons will be findable below the video.
Use swipe right to the end of the player controls to the "Dock Video" Button.
Double Tap on Dock Video.
The main Video and player controls will vanish.
A small PIP screen appears on the upper right portion of the screen.
It is findable by dragging a finger to the upper right.
The PIP screen has a full range of findable player controls.
Crucially, the PIP Screen includes a "Close" button for the Video player. Swipe all the way left to find it.
Double tap to close the video.

HTH.
