My name is Meriç, and I develop apps with accessibility at their heart. Today, I would like to introduce ZeroBooks Reader, my app for reading and listening to books, documents, and audio files on iPhone and iPad.
ZeroBooks Reader is a one-time purchase, with no app subscription or hidden recurring fees. It is fully accessible with VoiceOver and includes dark mode for people who prefer a darker interface, including users with low vision. Extensive settings let you tailor the reading experience to your preferences.
You can listen to documents such as PDF, Word, and TXT files, as well as your audio documents. If you have an API key for a supported AI voice service, you can also use AI voices. These optional services use your own API key, so any charges from the voice provider are separate from the app purchase.
There is quite a lot to explore. As the developer, I have to admit that the Settings tab might make your head spin a little—in a good way! Here are some of the features:
• Reading and pronunciation settings: Adjust how documents are read aloud, customize pronunciation, and choose whether speech pauses at line endings.
• Multiple languages and voices: Use different voices for different languages within the same document.
• Advanced OCR: Choose from multiple text recognition engines built into the app to make more documents readable.
• Built-in web browser: Download documents from within the app and add them to your library.
• File organization: Keep your library organized with folders and work with supported archives such as ZIP files.
• Formatting and editing: Work with bold, italic, and regular text, including word-level formatting controls, and edit your documents with the built-in editor.
• Quotes: Capture a favorite passage from a document, keep it for later, or export it.
• Bookmarks: Mark important places and return to where you left off.
• Background audio: Play your chosen music in the background while you read or listen.
• Volume booster: Increase quiet reading audio for a more comfortable listening experience.
• Notes and linked notes: Write and keep notes in the app, reference other notes, and create links between them.
These are just some of the features that come to mind as I write this. I built ZeroBooks Reader to give you more control over how you read, listen, organize, and work with your documents.

Read by line control in documents
Is there a way to set any of these settings to work per document so for example, the setting to read by line is there a way to make that to where it just works for the particular document that you’re reading and not for every single document
Really liking ZeroBooks
Hi,
I started using ZeroBooks today. I'm mainly planning to use it for audiobooks, but I like it so far. I think more granular headset controls would be great, for example, let me skip back 30 seconds with the standard headset gesture, and forward 30 seconds with the standard forward gesture. Right now, it skips back and forward by chapter, which is fine... as the app's default, lol. But a person should be able to set it, I'm rarely in front of my phone when listening to a book, I always have a headset or bluetooth speaker on, so it's just easier to push those controls, plus, with those controls enabled, I don't have to unlock my phone, find the back or forward by time button, and miss half the book while doing it, lol. That's my biggest gripe with the BARD mobile app, but what BARD mobile is or isn't, does or doesn't have aren't relevant to ZeroBooks, lol. Plus, I love the name, Zero is my fave number, lol.
Does this app allow us to capture books? I mean printed text
Its really urgent for me I was a prominent user of Seeing AI but what happened that the app crashed recently? I used it to scan my documents accurately my textbooks and when it’s my exams right now the app crashes while I scam and all that effort that I put into it just goes into water so I wanted to know if this document reader will help me scan documents and save it or export it
Please reply as soon as possible for it’s really urgent for me

I couldn't agree more with this comment. I thought I was alone in my frustration with the BARD Mobile app for the exact same reason stated here. I haven't tried ZeroBooks Reader, and thanks to this comment, I won't bother until they implement the rewind 15-30 seconds with the airPods remote control. The BookPlayer app has this implemented as does the Audible app and Libby. Even my podcast player (Downcast) does this. I won't use an app that doesn't have this feature implemented.
