artificial eyes and using face recognition.

my SE phone might be giving up. After I stop crying, I will have to look for a new one. I was wondering if face recognition has improved at all if someone has artificial eyes. About three years ago, I had a phone that refused to recognize my face. I sure don’t want to have to type a security code in every time I want to open the phone.

I only have one artificial eye, but it's something I hadn't considered with the face ID. It seems like there were some complaints about the 18 pro and face ID.
Do the phones look at the facial structure, or can superficial things throw it off? Another thing to worry about in modern life...

According to threads, I’ve read on this website years ago. People were OK with Face ID and artificial eyes. I can’t speak to experiences. I refuse to use facial ID and I use a passcode on my iPhone 15. Hopefully somebody who has experience can tell you better editing, according to threads on this with Face ID and artificial eyes. I can’t speak to experiences. I refuse to use facial ID and I use the pass guide on my iPhone 15 hopefully somebody who has experience according.

The issue with iphone 18 pro isn't confined to any particular people, well, not unless they're all just damn sexy and the phone can't cope with it but, I have a artificial eye and the other eye is covered and has been for several years and had no issues with face ID, beyond the general annoyance of finding the right angle when I'm not already looking at it.

HTH.

Sometimes It's a small comfort that others, including the sighted, are having a common difficulty. Finding the correct angle sounds slightly frustrating. As to looking beautiful for the face ID... I would hate to have to wait until after I doll up just to unlock my phone. That might take half the morning.

I didn’t mean to say before that I refuse Face ID I just have no concept of looking at anything so I just didn’t make any sense for me to set it up. I would have otherwise trust me, but I just don’t really want to so that’s just my personal choice. I don’t mind doing my four digit passcode all the time. Oh the thing that’s the Face ID issue. An 18 pro was the placement of the sensor was like under the screen or something so that was why people are having trouble with it. Yes we have to look sexy for our phones. Lol I love that Oliver that’s perfect.

You know, I'm too sexy for my phone, too sexy for my phone...
Do I need to make a pouty supermodel face to unlock it?

Oh my gosh, you just made my freaking morning. I’m literally sitting here not able to get back to sleep that just freaking made my morning. To the original poster I’m sorry that your SE phone might be giving up on you. That’s so sad. I have that as my secondary device and absolutely love it. I hope you can figure out what you need to for Face ID. Is it possible for you to keep it alive if you get a new battery for it? Just trying to help keep this lovely little device for you if we can.

Getting back on topic,

Honest Nan, there is a setting called "Require Attention" that may help in this situation. The default user experience for Face ID is that the user must actively be looking at the device to authenticate and unlock it. If VoiceOver is on while Face ID is set up, the "Require Attention" setting will be disabled by default (though you can always enable it). With "Require Attention" disabled, the device will not require you be looking at it to unlock--it only requires that your face be in view. Of course, with "Require Attention" disabled, there is a lessening of security because someone could unlock your phone if they get a hold of it by just waving it in front of your face without you having to be "looking" at it. But in my opinion at least, it is what it is, and I use Face ID with "Require Attention" disabled.

i will be getting a new pair of polerized sunglasses. how do I ensure they work with faceID? have my iPhone setup for full face recognition only, and require attention on for better security. how do I get the angle of faceID? right now, i use my passcode for everything, including apple Pay and personal voice. I use my apple watch for apple pay , sometimes.
