Apple has today released iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2, bringing a fix for an issue that prevented users from downloading updates over cellular connections.
As iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2 were not distributed to external testers prior to their release, we do not have any information on whether they contain any accessibility fixes for blind, deaf blind, or low vision users at the time of writing. However, as these updates appear to have been released to address a specific issue, we do not expect them to contain any such fixes.

How to Update
iOS and iPadOS 26.6.2 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update), via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.
Before updating, we strongly recommend making a full and complete backup of your device (either locally or in iCloud, depending on personal preference). This will ensure that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during the update process, you will have a current backup on hand in case a device restore becomes necessary. Also, if using OTA update, we recommend plugging your device into a power source for the duration of the download/installation process, so as to prevent the unlikely event of your battery going dead during the update.

About time
It's about time they fix this, it annoyed me a lot in my experiment of living completely off unlimited 5G, but I'm back on a wired connection, symmetric 1 gigabit fiber and Wi-Fi 7 so I get the full gigabit without Ethernet cables. Apple Watch is the worst, as it refuses to download both using its own cellular connection and a Personal Hotspot shared by an iPhone. I had to connect my iPhone to my Mac over USB and share the iPhone's Internet connection using the Mac as an access point to fool the watch into updating itself, because it invariantly assumes that every Personal Hotspot is metered and thus enables low data mode without providing an option to disable it..

Look this is almost. I’m kind of glad it wasn’t just me and everything in a way because I could not download this last update over cell data at all. I couldn’t even get my personal hotspot thing to work either. I had to literally wait till I got on Wi-Fi to update. I hope this update is successful. It’s so weird that they would have to make it to fix their problem being able to update, but it is what it is. At least a lot of people have that problem and not just us. I’ll try tonight and see what happens. Although I honestly don’t even know when I’m going to have access to Wi-Fi next, but yeah, have to see what happens. I’ve never had an Apple Watch so I don’t know how those things are for updating but yeah, this is the first time I ever had any issues updating phones.

I had this same issue as well. When I tried to update today, my battery went dead, and I had to start the update all over again. Still, It's nice to see them getting their stuff together as far as updates are concerned.

It’s kind of ironic that you need an update to fix an update of a problem. Interesting. I wonder if this will leave an update successfully for me as I don’t really have no one. I’m going to have access to Wi-Fi again like I said before. Right now the battery on both of my devices are too low for an update anyway. The phones never tell you this but you do need to have like at least 50% battery for an update to go through. I only know because I tried ones. It said that it couldn’t install it cause I didn’t have enough battery at least 50%.
Can I update my iPhone SE 2022
I cannot update my iPhone SE 2022. It’s an unable to download because there’s low data mode on that. I had to either turn off low data mode or switch Wi-Fi network. Well, I don’t have Wi-Fi. Also, my iPhone 15 is just sitting here saying requested, but not doing anything. I’m getting no kind of progress bar or anything. This is the same crap I ran into the last time we updated. This update was supposed to fix that problem. Go figure. Now I’m going to have to wait till I’m actually out of Wi-Fi again and I have no idea when that’s going to be as I can’t really get Wi-Fi from my house right now. This is so incredibly frustrating. Now I’m gonna have to wait till my Wi-Fi in order to update any of my devices? I’ve literally never had an issue until the 26th 6.1 and 9.6.2. Apple really needs to figure out what the heck is going on with the stuff.

That’s fantastic. :-) I could do that if I always have access to Wi-Fi too. :-) Unfortunately, I don’t. That’s what happens when you’re on a limited income and you have other bills that you have to pay and paying for Wi-Fi is another bill and unfortunately, I can’t afford that right now. :-) But hey, I’m gonna see today about getting my access to maybe my school Wi-Fi or something and at least updating my iPhone 15 anyway. But yeah my iPhone SE I’m gonna have to get the Wi-Fi password from somebody and get access through that because I don’t know what the school‘s Wi-Fi password is. The school‘s computer left it for me for my iPhone 15. So maybe I’ll have to go back in there or something. Yeah like I said it’s kind of ironic that you have to have an update to fix an update update supposed to fix the update. It still doesn’t download cellular data or hotspot. I’ve tried both of my devices and they’re both not downloading or aren’t installing an update. Crazy. I know what it is what it is. Just incredibly frustrating. The thing that’s a little bit annoying for me too is like these aren’t even major updates. There’s just security updates and an update to fix a problem that didn’t really get fixed at least on my devices. I feel like calling Apple and telling that that would be kind of pointless it would just go like the run of a whole bunch of other reports that they’re probably gonna get the same problem. Yeah, I don’t even know at this point so basically the computer lab in my school got me onto the Wi-Fi for my iPhone 15 but not my SE but I’m going to today if I can get down there.

That subject was an error of dictation. I was trying to say that I cannot update my iPhone SE 2022. It refuses to update over a hotspot. I haven’t had this issue until I started to become an issue so in other words with iOS 26.6.1 and iOS 26.6.2. To the update that was supposed to fix the problem never did. I also cannot update my iPhone 15. It just says that an error occurred while trying to download iOS 26.6.2 and it gives you a close button and that’s it. I will definitely have to see when I can get back on Wi-Fi to update both of my devices as neither one is able to successfully update right now. This is highly frustrating. The very update that was supposed to fix a problem. Updating isn’t even letting me update. I’m really happy for people that never had a problem with this, but it is very much a problem for people that are experiencing it.
