How to Update
iOS and iPadOS 26.6.1 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update), via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.
Before updating, we strongly recommend making a full and complete backup of your device (either locally or in iCloud, depending on personal preference). This will ensure that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during the update process, you will have a current backup on hand in case a device restore becomes necessary. Also, if using OTA update, we recommend plugging your device into a power source for the duration of the download/installation process, so as to prevent the unlikely event of your battery going dead during the update.
To install macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, choose System Settings from the Apple menu, select General in the table, click Software Update in the scroll area, and click the Update Now button to begin the update process. If other updates are available, you can click the Info button to see details about them and select specific updates to install.

Got it last week
Last week the RC was released and today another was release for all. No issues. It took about 10 minutes. 16 pro max.
Good and solid.
This seems like a good and solid update. All is well on my Iphone 14.
iPhone SE 2022 failing to update
Hi everyone, I have tried three times to update my iPhone SE 2022. It’s using my iPhone 15 is a hotspot and this is normally never an issue performing a software update. I am trying my fourth time now. But I have already tried. Three attempts in the software update has failed all three times. The error message that I get says an error occurred when updating to iOS 26.1 please try again later and then there’s a close button. I don’t know why this is happening. As I said before, this is never been an issue updating over the hotspot for any software update. This is just a security update so I wasn’t expecting there to be any issues. I did restart the phone too, so I don’t know why that would’ve happened. Does anybody know what may be going on here? I’m going to try to update my iPhone 15 and see if that is successful. Thanks for anybody’s help.

Try the following:
HTH. 🙂
Fortunately, this is still not working on either device now
Thank you, Brian. Unfortunately, this is not working out either device right now. I’m almost being like stuck in the loop. It says update requested and then make sure by updating you agree to the iOS terms of service and there’s just like a link but you can’t do anything to activate the link area. I don’t know why I’ve literally never seen this before anytime I’ve ever updated. I don’t know if Apple changed something worth updating precious but it’s kind of frustrating when all I want to do is just get the next update. It’s only a security update. I did turn off the low data mode on the iPhone 15 though. I mean the iPhone SE. And the maximize capacity was already off on the iPhone 15. So I might just have to wait till I’m actually on Wi-Fi to do this. It won’t be till Thursday, but it is what it is. I can’t really get Wi-Fi from my house so thanks for the help though.
Still no luck, unfortunately an iPhone SE
Hi Brian, and everyone, I still had no luck with this unfortunately. I still got the same error message that the update failed. I really don’t know what’s going on. I may have to wait till I’m on Wi-Fi in order for this to work. I have no idea why though as I’ve never had any issues updating before. I don’t know if something changed within the software itself from iOS 26 point Siri I was 26.1 but something definitely changed. Hopefully I’ll have better news report back to you guys once I get back on Wi-Fi which won’t be till Thursday, but thanks for your help with all this.
I just received the same message on my iPhone 15
I just received the same message on my iPhone 15. I don’t know if anybody else here is experiencing this issue. My device are just failing to update and I’m getting the same error message. It just says an error occurred. Unable to download iOS 26.1.1 and please try again later and a close button. Hope it’s not going to require like a restoring of my entire devices or something because I really don’t wanna do that. I don’t have a computer at my house so I really can’t do that anyway. Both of my devices are completely backed up to iCloud though.
Singer girl
Suggest and you might had done so, Turn off WIFI on your phone, restart device and try it again. No issues and also do not click on agree statement. That is normal now.
Thanks I’ll try that
Thanks, I’ll try that. I’ll come back down here and let you know.
Apple Releases IOS 26.6.1
I also am unable to get this release downloaded to my iPhone 14, and I have tried all of the suggestions listed.
I have been getting more and more frustrated with Apple for awhile. I have been having apersistent bug in which Apple asks me to enter my password for my Apple account. When I do this, (and I am sure I am entering the correct password), I will be told that my account is locked, and I have to prove my idenity. This lock will last up to three days, before I can finally enter my correct password again, and it is unlocked. And, now, this "security" update glitch comes up. Unless and until these bugs are permanently fixed, I will be having a very long, hard think about whether I will be updating to IOS 27.
Still no luck getting this update downloaded either
I still can’t get this update. Downloaded on either of my devices. I’ve tried all the suggestions. I’ve started both devices. I’m going to see what happens on Thursday when I can get access to Wi-Fi. All I get now is stuck in the loop saying that the update was requested, but it literally won’t do anything else. Just sit there. I can’t even get a progress bar so I have no idea what it’s doing. Yeah this is very frustrating. I’ve never seen this happen before in any update ever. But yeah, it’ll definitely be a while before I ever update iOS 27 and to be honest if it’s gonna be like this. It’s pretty frustrating. I haven’t seen the account walking bug, but hopefully that will get resolved too cause that’s ridiculously frustrating.
Bluetooth keyboard issue after updating
Hi All, I'd be grateful for some help! I hate updates, so I had avoided doing so for about a year, and finally gave in yesterday. Other than tiny annoying changes with clicks and sounds, things have been going fine except for one big thing, that my Apple Bluetooth keyboard I've used forever on a daily basis doesn't want to work. Some navigation keys will speak, but I can't use the left and right arrow to toggle to typing, and I don't know what to do because I type on my phone a lot. So far I have tried telling Bluetooth to forget the keyboard, then repairing it, turning Bluetooth off and back on, turning the keyboard off and back on, and I'm out of ideas. I use an iPhone 14 Pro an an old, but well loved AA battery powered Apple Bluetooth keyboard that was working perfectly fine up until this update.
IOS26.6.1 update status
Hello, all. I was able to successfully download the latest IOS update to my Iphone 14 after turning off Low Data Mode. Maybe the bug was at my end and not Apple's. See you all, later.
I had the same bug on my iPhone SE 2022 in my iPhone 15
That was definitely not just on your end. I had that same bug. I couldn’t even get my iPhones to download the update on low data mode. I had to literally wait till I was on Wi-Fi and get the update to download. There was definitely something up with that. I have never had that issue before. Hopefully updating the next version of software will be better. I don’t have Wi-Fi in my house so I had to wait till I was visiting with my parents to get both of my phones updated. I’ve never had the issue before. I’ve always been able to update with a personal hotspot and not have a problem so I don’t know what the deal was, but it was definitely something on Apple‘s end I think.
Bluetooth keyboard fix
Everyone I know that uses a Bluetooth keyboard had this problem when iOS 26 was installed. I found I had to go to voiceover settings, typing, and find "Single Letter Quick Nav" and turn it off. After you have done this there is a good chance that turning single letter quick NAV on and off with the keyboard will work just fine. It just doesn't seem to work to turn it off the first time.
I can't remember if I changed my single letter quick NAV to voiceover Q or if it was that all along. Anyway, caps or command option Q works for me now. The arrow key quick NAV and single letter quick NAV were separated into two different things, so that's why left and right arrow didn't make it possible for you to type.
Instead of just being able to turn it on and off, I wish we could decide whether we preferred it to be separate types of quick NAV or not.
Screen locking
Since when does the screen lock when voiceover is speaking. I simply cannot have my phone set to Low Power Mode when using it, because the screen is constantly locking and making me have to start reading things from the beginning of a chunk, paragraph, or message. It's incredibly annoying! I'm pretty sure my phone wasn't doing that until this latest update, but it doesn't make sense that this would change in a minor security update.
Just locking while reading notifications is an ongoing bug unfor
I’ve seen this bug since iOS 18.4. You’ll be reading a notification on the lock screen and it will just stop reading and lock your screen and never finish reading its preview. It’s really annoying. I have no idea if this is fixed and iOS 27 or not. I guess you just got the bug later than a lot of other people because that bug has been around for a long time, unfortunately. Hopefully it’ll get fixed. And yeah people that use Bluetooth keyboard should get more customization for those. I don’t have a Bluetooth keyboard so I can’t find how that works exactly but if you should get more options for that.
Screen locking bug has been around for years
I think this bug was introduced way before IOS 18.... The phone of my dreams would still be an iPhone with IOS 10.... Not 9 and not 11.... That was the only update where accessibility was not glichy despite the new accessibility features being presented, such as photo description, which worked stably every time
@CuriousNetEntity
Thank you so, so, so much!! I can type again!! I'd been searching and searching for some post about the issue, but hadn't found anything. Appreciate your help, kind human!
Screen locking different issue
Yes, I know that the phone sometimes locks when reading notifications on the lock screen. It's kind of annoying but I have the perspective that I know cited people can't read nearly as much of the notification as we usually can with voiceover. I just unlock my phone or look in notifications itself. That is definitely not what I was complaining about however. I am complaining about having my phone unlocked and I'm just reading along in an article, or post, or message and my screen will just lock without warning in the middle of a sentence. It's when low power mode is on. Unfortunately, I have it automatically turn on when my battery is low. Maybe I have to turn off that automation. I have my screen set to never lock.
CuriousNetEntity
Well iOS 27 fix the VO and notification bug. The RC should be out next week.
OK, sorry about that
OK, that makes sense. Sorry about that. Yeah you may need to turn off the automation for the Low Power Mode. I haven’t seen that bug where your screen would lock mid sentence like that. I have my autolock to never as well. I’m both my devices. So it may be something to do with that. I mean it shouldn’t but there’s a lot of things that shouldn’t happen so you may wanna just try and see if it works for you. Well, I’m really happy. They finally fixed the voiceover notifications bugging iOS 27. I hope it stays that way for the release candidate version so that hopefully it will stay that way for the final version. I mean, I’m not usually somebody who updates like the first day on a major release, but it will depend on what kind of bugs are around for people. I did do it once before, but it was an iOS 16 and the things that were VoiceOver bugs didn’t really have to do with features that I used and it ended up being OK. Like I said, I wouldn’t normally do it, but I did do it that year cause it was the year that we got all the new voices. I had iOS 10 briefly because I had an iPhone 5 for a while and that was the highest it would go. That being a pretty stable operating system. Yeah I wouldn’t mind running that again. I don’t have the iPhone 5 anymore, though. I don’t have anything older than the current iOS so here we are.
