Draugnorak

Category

Description of App

Draugnorak is a side-scrolling survival game. How long can you survive? Each night, waves of undead hammer your defenses, while hostile bandits, yetis, and goblins
stalk the world beyond your base each day. You start with nothing and must craft the tools, weapons, and structures you need to endure.
Gather resources, recruit residents to your base, and connect with the spirits of vanquished foes in custom adventures across different types of terrain. Build an
altar, earn favor from the gods, receive blessings, and take on quests. Protect your residents from the dreaded vampyr, build your barricade strong, for the undead
  come, and they hunger.

Note, when starting the game the first thing you might want to do is craft a stone knife and collect vines and stics from the tree so you can create a stone axe.

Accessibility Comments

This is an audio game, so it's fully accessible for a blind user. You'll need to keep VoiceOver enabled, as the game doesn't speak using the system TTS.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

Extract the archive and make sure you only have the single .app bundle with the Contents folder inside it. Put this in the Applications folder.
Next, go to the application and choose show package contents from the context menu. Navigate to Contents, then macOS and copy the file inside that with no extension to your clipboard with Command-c.
Open the terminal, and type chmod +x, a space, and then paste the path to the executable from the clipboard with Command-v. Press enter and close the terminal when you get the prompt again.
You've made the game executable, but you still need to bypass Gatekeeper, because the program isn't signed with an Apple developer account. Open the program and choose done when you get the message about Apple being unable to verify it's free of malware.
The next step depends on the version of macOS you're running. As far as I know, NVGT games only run on Sonoma or later. If you're using Sonoma, go back into the context menu for the app bundle and choose open. Confirm you want to open the program even though Apple can't verify it.
If you're using Sequoia or later, Apple made it harder to bypass Gatekeeper. After attempting to open the game, go to System Settings, then Privacy & Security. At the bottom of the window, there should be a button to allow the game to run even though it was blocked.
