Best New App or Service in 2026!

I randomly read about the launch of Muse from Meta last Tuesday, September 8, and within only a few hours of playing with it, I found it to be a life-changing tool!

Muse is an agentic AI agent, meaning it is largely designed to perform tasks for you that you would typically have to do manually on websites, via email, or in documents.

Within 24 hours of getting Muse, I had it handling dozens of complex, multistep tasks that require reasoning, not just filling out forms or clicking buttons on the web! It’s so much more than an automated form filler!

Some of the tasks I fully automated in the first 24 hours through purely conversational WhatsApp chat messages included:

1. Listing and adding Achilles shifts: Achilles is a running group. They use Rosterfy, which is impossible to use for many functions on iOS and tedious but possible to use via a browser. But with Muse, I can just send a WhatsApp chat message and say, “Sign me up for Achilles Boston on Tuesday!”

2. Booking Southwest flights with multiple credits: I told Muse I knew I had unused Southwest credits and wanted to use them to book a flight to Nashville. Muse located the credits and autonomously booked the flight I wanted. This is possible to do on iOS or the web, but it requires you to manually retrieve, copy, and paste the confirmation numbers of credits you want to use. Southwest does not have a checkbox where you can just apply credits from your account.

3. Tracking and validating a Southwest business promotion: I’m signed up for a promotion where I get 20,000 points if I fly eight one-way trips by October. I asked Muse to check my Rapid Rewards activity, find flights in the applicable travel period, and then cross-reference Gmail receipts to verify that they had the corporate ID required for the promotion. Muse compared the Rapid Rewards flight activity, checked which flights had corresponding Gmail receipts with a corporate ID, and built a dashboard within Muse so I could track my progress toward eight one-way flights. I was impressed that it could analyze the disparate data from Southwest and Gmail, understand the necessary correlation, and piece that information together. Muse was also able to search for the lowest fares if I needed an extra trip, and it found some fares under $100.

4. Airline seats: When I fly, I have Muse check for better seats every 30 minutes. I can choose to have it automatically change my seat or prompt me with a choice first.

5. NYC hotels: I have Muse check IHG, Hyatt, and Marriott, comparing various corporate rates and points for an upcoming two-night stay in NYC. The system checks both cash rates and points each day and will let me know if my price goes down or if another nearby hotel of interest opens up. It’s also able to calculate approximate redemption values for hotel points to help me compare points versus cash bookings.

6. Accessible restaurant menus: Whenever I go to a restaurant, I ask Muse to create an accessible, heading-based menu. It creates a shareable HTTP link where each category is shown as an H2 heading and each item as an H3 heading. I would describe the interface as optimal, similar in concept to how MenusForAll presented screen-reader-friendly restaurant menus.

7. Meal ordering: Nutri is a meal delivery service in the Boston area. Its website and app are very cumbersome to use with screen readers. I told Muse to delete all the prefilled meals and give me a numbered list of meals, about 10 at a time. I could then respond with the numbers I wanted, such as “I want 5 and 8.” Muse would update and finalize the order on the Nutri website.

8. Strava cleanup: Think of Strava as a fitness app meets social media. You can track workouts and progress, tag friends, and see their fitness activities. I had several activities with generic names like “Morning Run.” I gave Muse some rules about dates and locations and had it redo all the generic names, adding who I was running with to each activity name. Muse kept a log file in case I wanted to go back and review something later. Muse has also been able to summarize Strava trend data, which is often represented graphically, and correlate it with health data from something like the Apple Health app.

9. iCloud photo labeling: I told Muse to create titles and captions for my last 100 photos in iCloud. It did about 50, then something broke on the iCloud end, but I’ve gotten it to reestablish the connection and try more today. This solves the problem of taking photos but not readily having the nonvisual descriptive metadata you need as a screen reader user. Muse flagged a screenshot from an online pharmacy saying how a shipment was lost and that I would need to request a new prescription. I remember taking this screenshot, and it was interesting that Muse surfaced it as an interesting photo that I may need to take further action on.

10. Tracking rideshares, flights, and weather radar: I can ask Muse about the current location of a flight, a rideshare trip through an HTTP share link, or even the Boston weather radar to analyze current precipitation.

11. Amazon: I can ask Muse to identify for example which charger product I bought that has both ac outlets, and retractable cables using both my order history and the Amazon product descriptions.

12. Friend Trip Dashboard: When a friend visited Boston, I had Muse create a shareable dashboard with flights, restaurant reservations, tours booked, etc. It could for example book an Open table reservation and also update the trip dashboard including the http link for the accessible restaurant menu. Its also readily able to cancel or modify Open table reservations, again, all through conversational WhatsApp messages. This is like the TripIt app on steroids.

13. Submit American Airlines Miles Shopping Claims: During the mid August Massachusetts tax holiday, I made 2 Best Buy purchases via the American Airlines mileage shopping portal. I did not get the miles for these. I asked Muse to file missing mileage claims, and access the receipt data from Gmail. Also to save to my Google Drive a PDF of the email receipts I had received from Best Buy. I got the email verifying that Muse had filed these claims, which would be more cumbersome if I had to collect the information and manually file the claim.

14. Sign up for a Webinar:
I often receive email announcements or read about upcoming webinars. For example, the NFB CENA team has an upcoming webinar on iOS 27 updates, features, and changes. I told Muse to sign me up for the webinar, ask me any survey questions the NFB form prompted for, and put it on my calendar, and it processed that signup flawelessly. I actually recorded a WhatsApp audio message on the way home from Salem to Boston in an Uber asking it to handle that request, so if you prefer audio messages, you can do that rather than dictation, and it will translate your audio in to tex and process your request.

These are only a st of examples out of dozens of automations I have created with Muse in under one week. Most things have worked far more seamlessly than I would have expected or have been easier to create than with other agentic automation platforms I have tried.

It can take a moderate to even a long time sometimes to process a request, in other words, its not lightning fast. I would say at times the processing time can even rival the time you might spend with an Aira agent to perform a task. But I like the asyncronous methodology of using the Muse augentic agent, where while its working on a task, I can be reviewing other WhatsApp messages or even going in to other apps or doing something else, while the agent is working. AT times, I have had the Muse augentic agent working on 3 different tasks at the same time.

So far, Muse from Meta would be my vote for the best new app or service in 2026!

I would recommend trying it and experimenting with things that could be automated or made easier to read. Muse can also do a lot with emails, cancelling subscriptions, organizing your emails, and the like.

I may be able to present an audio demo in the coming days or weeks, as that could make things easier to understand.

I finally broke the free tier on day 6, Monday 9/14, and had used 98% of my free alotment, so went with the $20 plan. But I have ben hitting it hard all 6 days, and using it more than a normal person likely would.

I’m curious about other blind users’ experiences with Muse from Meta or similar tools. What kinds of tasks do you automate?

Other Comments

Issues Discovered:
The app works well, but here are some things to be aware of:
1. WhatsApp Status Messages: If you interact with Muse in WhatsApp, with in the conversation thread chat itself, you can hear status messages of work it is doing. This is helpful information, but at the same time, the status message can interrupt an inline message that it is trying to read to you. You can partially get around this by exiting back to the WhatsApp message list, and then reading the last Muse WhatsApp message. The updating progress tracker status messages will not be present when listening to a messsage from the message list inbox.
2. Native App Message Focus: You can also interact with Muse through a chat interface in its native app, rather than WhatsApp or rather than in the browser. Its been reported that when a message response is rendered, VoiceOver may not automatically read the message response. In other words, you may need to manually shift focus to be able to read the response rather than hearing it automatically.

3. Handing User a Browser: There may be some circumstances where Muse trys to hand a user a remote browser interface. These types of remote virtual browser interfaces do not typically work with screen readers. This is somewhat rare, but it could happen. You can also advise in the chat that the remote browser solution handoff will not work, and in many cases, Muse will propose another solution rather than handing you a remote virtual browser window.

4. Desktop Web Browser Messsage Interface Issue:
You can directly interact with Muse at
http://muse.ai
and using for example Jaws form field controls does not necessarily advance you to the chat input form field. You are able to press enter on "message," and activate forms mode, but they could have a more streamlined message box interaction. If you turn off the virtual curose and use control-J you enter the message composition form field, but Jaws does not announce this.

When I downloaded the app and logged in, it just told me that the app is not available to all audiences and they get started. Button was dimmed. Is there some kind of waitlist I have to join?

Hi, I'm assuming you tried to use it after the Tuesday September 8th launch? Also it comes to mind if you are using the United States app store, I'm not sure if it is deployed internationally or not as of now? I hope you are able to get it soon if you want to try it out!
