I have been looking forward to this app coming out. I just downloaded it a few minutes ago, and will definitely put it through its paces. 😀😇

By Zoe Victoria on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 - 19:06

Why do you have to be a subscriber to talk to other players in the lobby and forum? I understand keeping ad free and sound packs behind a subscription, but the chat? That seems a little crazy to me, especially since DiceWorld doesn't do that.

By Brian on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 - 20:53

Probably server maintenance and upkeep. 🙂

By KE8UPE on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 - 22:08

I sent a message to the developer asking that very question & his response, which makes sense, is that he wants to avoid spammers.
In an effort to do that, he's decided to make the forums a paid feature.
My username for both Card World & Dice World is the same as my display name here.

Well, so far I am really impressed with the level of detail put into screen reader accessibility. I am also very new to Gin and Rummy, but this app makes both games fun to learn.
No idea how often I will be around, but if you ever find me online, feel free to say, "Hello".
My username is 'Nightless'. ♥️♠️♦️♣️

If anyone wants to play, my username is EagerLance31

My user name is rowdyamerican. Feel free to send game requests. I hope they add notifications. As far as I can tell, the only way to see when it's your turn is to open the app.

By Emily Chia on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 - 04:12

I like the concept of the game, thanks for making a game like this, if anybody would like to send me game request my name on there is Miss gorgeous, I eventually will pay for the monthly subscription, looking forward to seeing what else will be added in the future.

Being a frequent dice world player, I'm a fan of this one, not sure if I'll get the subsctiption yet, but I do have one fir Dice world, so will see about this one, my username on Card world is hubert3001

I'm liking this app so far, but it just doesn't seem as robust as DiceWorld, which makes sense since this is new. Also, with DiceWorld, I pay $10 a year, or whatever it is for the sound packs and to keep things ad free. I'd very much prefer it if that subscription model existed for this as well. $4 a month seems a bit much given my playing habits, and I have no interest in any of the social functions. Is there any chance of such a subscription being offered in the future? I would also like if we could hide UI elements we don't want to swipe through, the same way we can in DiceWorld. For example, I don't need to see games listed where it isn't my turn. I appreciate the app, and I think it's got a lot of potential, but it just can't compare with DiceWorld yet.

So I just won a hand against a friend of mine on Card World, but it won't send the turn through. Every time I open the game, it says I've knocked and won that hand etc, and even that I'm waiting for my opponent to play, but it won't send the turn to her. She is also experiencing this phenominon. as well.

Hi. I just wanted to post here to let people know about the situation that's going on now that I think should be kept in mind for anyone deciding to play the game.
A little bit ago, the dev of Cardworld posted within the in-game forum about how he couldn't believe anyone left a bad review of the game and how it sets back accessible gaming, and people were allowed to badmouth said reviewer and call them names within the comments of the post with no consequences or repercussions that I could see. Looking at the actual app page, the only review that I can see as anything close to negative is mine, which was a three star review that I did my best to keep as positive as possible while wondering about why certain features were paid. I feel like this was a massive overreaction' on his part, and that this behavior is only going to encourage the hostile behavior that he was worried about in the first place. I have no real evidence it was directed at me, but as of now I will no longer be playing any of his games. . .

I ahven't tried to playing online with other player yet.
but, I like playing it with the computer/ bot.
very fun!
hope it will have other card games like Uno, and poker as well.
and also hope it can have some card battling games as well...

Actually I am with the developer here. I was curious what you were talking about and got to the forum and checked. This is the post in question.
nick, 1 day ago: It is crazy to me that someone who plays all of my games, for years, leaves a bad review on the App Store. You really have no idea how much that sets back the success of the game and trying to get accessible games created.. 6 likes, 14 comments
This is version 1.0 of the game and in my opinion, even if you didn’t like the game, you could wait a bit for it to be polished. Furthermore I believe that only for reasons of decency, you shouldn’t hinder the developers efforts this way. If for no other reason, just for the fun he has provided us with, all these years.
If you didn’t like the game, just leave it at that.

Panais, thanks for sharing the text of the developer's post.

I am with Zoe Victoria on this one.

Criticism, sometimes even unfair criticism, is part of having a product available to the public. It's hard. It stings. Reviews are not always favorable. Did I mention that negative reviews are especially hard when you've put a lot of work and energy into a project?

At the same time... I think there's a better way to respond to a negative review than posting about it in the manner that the developer allegedly did.

By Zoe Victoria on Friday, April 10, 2026 - 15:42

The issue I have presently is not about the game, not really. It is about the way the dev responds to feedback, and how he encourages other players to interact with each other.
As the dev, he has a lot of power over how players interact inside the game. He sets an example for everyone else of what kind of tone his base will have as a whole. By posting like this in a forum that he owns, that he is a moderator of, it has a lot more power and influence than if he had posted, say, on a big social media site or was just venting to a friend.
And people were following his example. There were people who felt comfortable calling me names and Ridiculing me in the comments without any consequences, when most of them probably hadn’t even seen the context of the actual review. Whether intentional or not, he was encouraging the behavior that caused forums to need to be behind a paywall in the first place. Even if I had been doing what he accused me of, this would not be the professional way to respond. If a big game developer spoke like this about their base, it would be a PR nightmare. I do not want to play a game with an environment like that, and that's the last I'll say on the matter.

By Zoe Victoria on Friday, April 10, 2026 - 15:49

For more context, this is the actual review that I wrote below:
I am updating this review to note that after posting the original version, the developer eluded to it in the in-game forum, described it as ‘setting back the success of the game and trying to keep accessible games from being created,’ and allowed other players to mock the reviewer in the comments with no moderator action. This response made me feel unsafe giving honest feedback, and I no longer feel comfortable using this developer’s apps. The games themselves remain accessible and well designed, but I can’t recommend them due to this experience. Original review:
First and foremost, I really do like the app so far. It is very accessible and easy to play, even if you've never played Rummy before. The built-in tutorial and rules helped me refresh my knowledge of the games pretty fast.
One thing that really baffles me, however, is that a subscription is required to use the in-game forum. I understand that the devs need to make money to continue making these games a possibility, and I understand the subscription for custom sounds and an ad-free experience. But locking chat behind the paywall seems kind of crazy to me, especially since neither DiceWorld nor GameWorld and Word War before it (miss that game) ever did something like that. I hope that the chat can be made free. Especially since some people may need that chat for support regarding the game. I'd be alright with there being a VIP forum for subscribers, but there ought to be a chat that everyone can use regardless of subscription.

Good afternoon,
I'm pleased to inform you that Card World version 1.01 has been released & it's quite a big one, for being the first, since its initial release on Tuesday.
I'm shocked they got the update out so quickly.
That kind of speed certainly underscores the developer's ongoing commitment to accessibility, which should be commended.
Go grab the update & let's all have fun playing cards together! :)

By Earle on Friday, April 10, 2026 - 19:52

I’m really liking the update. You can now go into the lobby. This is no longer a paid feature. You can see who’s online and you can challenge people now. I like all the improvements that have been made in this version. I’m looking forward to future updates.

By nbappdev on Friday, April 10, 2026 - 23:02

Hi everyone, I'm the developer, and I wanted to jump in directly.

First, thank you for caring about accessibility enough to speak up. That kind of community support is a big part of why I keep building these games.

I want to be transparent about something that has a real impact on whether a new app survives: App Store ratings are one of the biggest factors in whether a new game gets discovered. Even valid criticism posted there early can sink a release before it finds its audience. I've seen that firsthand with Dice World, which still struggles with discoverability after 12 years.

I'm a one-person team. These games don't generate enough income to replace my day job, and I'm essentially covering server costs. Building games that are genuinely accessible is difficult, which is one reason there are still so few of them. I do it because I care about it, and I'm committed to fixing every accessibility issue that gets raised.

My ask is this: if you run into a problem, please bring it to me directly or post it here first. I will take it seriously and I will fix it. I just ask that the App Store not be the first stop, especially right after launch, because those early ratings can permanently affect whether people ever find the game.

We're on the same side. I want to make games this community is glad to recommend, and I just need a fair chance to improve them when issues come up.

Nick

to answer the topic on why the forums are members only. Dice World has turned into a nightmare as far as forums go. 70% of the posts are spammers from Nigeria and I spend way too much time banning users and moderating when I could be improving the game or hanging out with my family. So that is the sole reason for that decision. If people are invested in the game they tend not to abuse it.

My fiancé and I love Card World! We were invited by a friend and that's how I actually found out about it and we really enjoy it.

I've been playing Dice World since 2013. In fact I started playing it in April of 2013, about a month and a half after I got my first iPhone, the iPhone 4S, wow! Just remembering that phone. It seems like forever ago in a way but I've been playing Dice World for years.

Not only that but I actually did beta testing with the Dice World developers at the time. I think in 2015 or 2016 when they were really doing some huge accessibility upgrades to the app. That was really neat.

We love it and I look forward to seeing where it goes. It'll be neat to see if they create any other card games; it'd be cool to have a couple more card games eventually. I know these things take time but yeah it's really neat

By Vicki Andrada on Saturday, April 11, 2026 - 08:48

Here’s my honest take on Zoe Victoria’s review.

She absolutely has a right to her opinion. But from my perspective, saying you’re upset that a feature was made paid comes across a bit like saying, “I’m frustrated you didn’t give this to me for free.”

Developers have to make a living too. These apps don’t just appear out of nowhere—they take a lot of time, effort, and ongoing maintenance. I’m not a developer myself, but I’ve done some looking into this, and it’s a lot more involved than people realize. You’re not just building features—you’re testing, fixing bugs, keeping up with system updates, and making sure everything continues to work over time.

And depending on the app, it’s not always just one platform either. Some developers are building for multiple systems, which adds even more work. Even if this one is only on iPhone, that still involves ongoing updates and support. It’s definitely not something someone throws together in five minutes.

My fiancé and I paid for it right away for a couple of reasons. First, we didn’t want to deal with ads. But more importantly, this developer has clearly put effort into accessibility, and that matters to me. I want to support that. The more we support developers who prioritize accessibility, the better things will get for all of us.

If you’re not into the app or gaming in general, that’s totally fine—then it’s probably not for you. But personally, I don’t think $4 a month is expensive. A lot of people pay more than that for things like music subscriptions or other services.

At the end of the day, it’s a choice on both sides. You can choose whether or not to pay for it, and the developer can choose what features are free or paid. They’re the only ones who really know what they need to sustain the app and make it worthwhile. If it’s worth it to you, pay for it. If it’s not, don’t. Simple as that.

If someone really wants a feature to be free, I think it’s better to ask respectfully. Something like, “Is there any chance this could be included without an extra cost? I’d love to support the app, but that part is important to me.” That kind of approach goes a lot further.

Also, I don’t think it’s fair to compare this app to Dice World. That’s a completely different app, built at a different time, under different circumstances. Not every developer is going to follow the same model, and that’s okay.

And one more thing—developers are human too. It’s fine to be honest and share your opinion, but how something is said matters. There’s a way to give feedback without making it feel dismissive or harsh, especially when someone has clearly put a lot of work into what they’ve built.

And this might sound a little blunt, but it’s the truth: we as blind users can’t expect everything to be free. I’m on a limited income too, so I understand the financial side of it. But if we want quality, accessible apps, we have to be willing to support the people creating them when we can.

That’s just how I see it. Take care, everyone.

Hello,
I’m very interested to play this game and I just downloaded it today after seeing it mentioned in a Facebook post. When I enter the app, it says “direct touch area “and I am unsure what to do from here. I have added direct touch to the rotor and selected CardWorld in my direct touch apps settings however, when I go into the app, it says direct touch is on when I finally get the rotor to where I can change the item but I can’t proceed with the game or any of the functionality. Can anyone provide me with some tips on how to make this work?
Thank you.

By kool_turk on Sunday, April 12, 2026 - 03:14

When you sit back and think about it, putting forums behind a paywall actually does make some sense. From a user’s point of view, it obviously sucks, because most people do not want to pay to use a forum. Most would probably say, “Who would pay for forums? That’s ridiculous.”
But from a moderator’s point of view, it changes things. People are far less likely to pay money just to post rubbish or spam on a forum. It simply would not be worth their time or money. In that sense, if more forums were behind paywalls, life might actually be easier for moderators.
Of course, that would also be frustrating for the rest of us. Even so, I do think this may be the direction things slowly head in. If you want to cut down on spammers, and maybe not hackers so much but definitely spammers, a paywall would make a difference. Just think about it: if someone wants to spam every forum they can find, having to pay a subscription fee for each one would hit their bottom line pretty hard.
For a small company, especially a one-person operation, it makes sense to put a forum behind a paywall. I would even go further and say that the Dice World forums should be behind a paywall, if they are not already. I have not played Dice World in donkey’s years, because I tend to prefer games that happen in real time, although this style of play is fine too.
From a user perspective, though, it is still just one more thing to pay for. Even so, I can understand why some companies do it this way. Honestly, I think that if social media were behind paywalls as well, there would probably be fewer problems overall, but that is probably a topic for another thread.
