Occasional soft crackling when VoiceOver speaks on iPhone 17 with internal speaker

Hi

I just switched from an iPhone 13 Pro to a new iPhone 17, and am noticing an occasional, very soft crackling from the internal speaker when VoiceOver speaks, especially when starting a new sequence of speaking, and not noticeably when speaking continuously (e.g. after performing a "read all" command). It happens regardless of what voice I use, be it Samantha (enhanced), Eloquence or a third party synthesizer like eSpeak.

This doesn't seem to occur when playing other sound through the speaker, so I'm inclined to believe it may be a software issue with the way VoiceOver audio is being processed on my iPhone 17.

I tried messing with various audio and VoiceOver settings to no effect. I usually turn all VoiceOver sounds off and just use haptics, but with VoiceOver sounds on this still occurs.

Has anyone experienced something similar and if so, found a fix?

How long has it been going on? Did you set this up as a brand new phone or did you transfer all of your settings from your old phone to this one? Other thing you may want to try is resetting all the voiceover settings. I’m not sure if that would fix it or not but it’s possibly worth a shot. Just thinking of a couple different things you could try. Are you running the latest iOS software? The latest right now is 26.3.18. So I hope that helps. I haven’t seen this issue on my iPhone SE third generation or my iPhone 15. One of these things will help.

If I recall some reported this with others phone in the past, Not sure if it was 14 or something else. I think if you put the valume to 100% it affects. Not sure if does with music? I do not notice with my 16 pro max but my hearing is not perfect so I would not be able to tell. LLC.
